Example island hopping cruise itinerary – Quirimbas Archipelago

Quirimbas Archipelago Quilalea Isalnd

Day 1

  • Arrive in Pemba. Our crew will meet and greet you and transfer you to the yachts.
  • There, we will brief you before we set sail for our destination, the Quirimbas Archipelago.
  • Depending on your arrival and departure times, we can squeeze in a dive that same afternoon and you can fish from the yacht while we sail to our overnight anchorage spot.
  • We will spend the night at Tari Bay where you will experience great snorkelling, diving, fishing and mangrove kayaking.

Day 2

  • Wake up to freshly brewed coffee or tea and a light snack before going diving or participating in any other activities you might prefer.
  • Return to the yacht for a sumptuous breakfast and a second dive if you wish.
  • After breakfast, we set sail north to the Quilalea Island region where we dock for the night.
  • We can stop and explore Quisiva Island and its old fort on the way there. We promote the enjoyment of dive sites and game fishing, along with all other activities.
  • We will overnight in the lee of Quisiva Island or, depending on conditions, we head further north to Quilalea Island.

Day 3

  • Today we make an early start, depending on where we moored overnight, and we set sail for Ibo Island.
  • Spend quality time exploring Ibo Island and its history, then enjoy mangrove kayaking, bird watching, historical tours of the island and cultural interaction with the friendly people.
  • We will moor the yacht in the lee of Ibo Island for the night.

Day 4

  • Rise to a cuppa freshly brewed coffee or tea and a light snack before your yacht heads to Matemo and Rolas Islands.
  • We give you time to explore these exquisite islands, where you can dive and fish and relax at the island resort on Matemo Island.

Day 5

  • Today is a day at Medjumbe Island.
  • Continue your exploration of Matemo and Rolas Islands, diving and fishing and spending some time at the island resort on Medjumbe Private Island.

Day 6

  • Another blissful day at Medjumbe Island.
  • We will overnight here before sailing back to Matemo Island.

Day 7

  • Spend the day at Matemo and enjoy all the activities on board your Mozambique yacht safari.
  • Late in the evening, while guests are sleeping, the yacht will set sail and cruise overnight to arrive in Pemba in time for a late morning departure for Pemba airport.

Day 8

  • Arrive in Pemba mid-morning for departure. Goodbye for now – we hope to see you again!

We also offer yacht and resort combos at Mozambique Yacht Safaris – combine a few days sailing on a luxury yacht around the islands with a few days berthed at an island of your choice where you can lose those sea legs for a while. This is the ideal option for those guests who want to experience the best of both worlds – the elite sailing experience aboard one of our floating hotels and the option of sitting at a dining table and relishing fresh seafood while the sun sinks below the waves, your toes in the beach sand.

An ideal combination would be four to five nights on board the yacht, and two or three nights at a luxury island resort – but the choice is yours!
